1-to-1 Companion Program

The 1-to-1 Companion recruitment program is one of the GMĐCTT Fund's major campaigns, aiming to connect each child with 1 supporter who provides not only financial but also emotional support, like a sponsor or foster parent.

Support arrangement: 1 Companion commits to at least 6 or 12 months of support, contributing 1–2 million per month according to the child's treatment costs. If the Companion encounters difficulties, they should give 1 month's notice so the Fund can make other arrangements and ensure uninterrupted support. The Companion may choose the child they wish to accompany from the current list of 16 children nationwide and is regarded as the child's “family member.” The Fund provides information and facilitates regular contact with the child.

About the Fund

The Giấc Mơ Đôi Chân Thiên Thần Fund was founded in 2009 by Social Entrepreneur Tạ Minh Tuấn and associates (TMT Group, YUP Education), with the aim of helping people with disabilities publish artistic works. In 2018, the Fund officially shifted its focus to covering monthly medical expenses for children with serious blood disorders, offering sustained, practical companionship beyond financial and material assistance. It also provides emotional support so the children understand that they are not victims of injustice, appreciate the help they receive, and live more responsibly toward themselves, their families, and society.

“A VIETNAM WORTH LIVING IN, BUILT FROM LIVES WORTH LIVING AND SMALL ACTIONS WORTH TAKING”

The success of any group is built from contributions that may seem “just a little.” The strength of any community comes from actions that may seem “tiny.” And a Vietnam worth living in is gradually taking shape through those “little” and “tiny” acts — from many people, from each person, and from YOU. You do not need to create something wonderful or bring about a major localized change. Simply buying something useful for yourself can be enough: that small act can create further positive changes whose significance extends beyond what you imagine.

Indeed! Simply by GETTING YOURSELF a shirt or a calendar after reading this post, you are bringing something better into the life of someone out there fighting to survive. It is a small act that takes nothing away from you: you receive something useful, while contributing some strength alongside us to reduce the harsh circumstances faced by people in Vietnam whose lives are not merely about existing, but about fighting every day.

It is a person with a disability fighting every day to overcome physical limitations, crushing feelings of inferiority, and even some people's frightening pity, simply to have an ordinary life — one we were given at birth, while they must fight for it with extraordinary determination that is not easily attained.

It is a child only 3 years old, just beginning to understand and experience life's good things, yet forced to battle a serious blood disorder every day for the chance to breathe normally, instead of being weak and exhausted by anemia and bone marrow failure. This illness torments the child's beautiful, innocent childhood day after day through painful treatments. Have you heard anyone describe the excruciating pain of a bone marrow puncture? Yes, there are children bearing this pain..

Or there are other exceptional circumstances we seek out and help, easing some of the hardships in lives that cannot be lived in the usual way.

Vietnam becomes a country worth living in when its people have lives worth living. That is what this article is about. Those lives worth living are your own, when you know how to give and share rather than live only for yourselves. A life worth living is one lived as ordinarily as anyone else's, rather than a daily struggle just to stay alive.
